Diagnosis in hematological diseases: morphology and flow cytometry

This SWG works in parallel with European LeukemiaNet (ELN) WP10 and is active in disseminating knowledge about diagnosis methods. There is no specific membership nor formally organized board or council, but any laboratory person interested in morphology and flow cytometry can contact the SWG or propose activities under its umbrella. This was the case in 2018 when the ESCCA (European Society for Clinical Cell Analysis) approached the SWG for possible interactions. This is also true with the ISLH (International Society for Laboratory Hematology) which co-supported the Barcelona SWG meeting in February 2018.

As of 2018, the SWG has extended its span to any hematological disorders involving morphological and/or flow cytometry analyses, instead of being restricted to the realm of leukemias, as is WP10 in the ELN. This broadened field will allow the SWG to provide more opportunities for teaching and continuing education.

This SWG is mostly involved in educational activities in the form of participation to conferences and courses, organizing the annual SWG session at the EHA congress and, in 2015 and 2018, providing an SWG Workshop in Barcelona.
