Junior Financial Controller

Hematologic diseases afflict millions of Europeans each year. The European Hematology Association (EHA), located in the heart of The Hague (Netherlands), is a non-profit professional association serving clinicians and researchers with an active interest in hematology in Europe and beyond. Our mission is to promote excellence in patient care through education, research, and advocacy.

Hematology is constantly changing and evolving. We help our members stay up to date by delivering a structured educational program, created by hematologists for hematologists. We offer a range of career development programs to help clinicians and researchers grow professionally and personally. We also advocate for hematologists and hematology at local and international levels.

We're looking for a Junior Financial Controller (32 hours).

About the role

In this role, you'll be supporting financial activities within EHA, mostly from an administrative level. This includes tasks like:

  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Updating systems
  • Handling accounting and reporting processes, including the annual audit and the financial risk register

You'll formally report to the Head of Operations. On a daily basis, you'll work closely with the Senior Financial Controller and the Financial Controller.

Your responsibilities

  • Recording accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Updating internal systems with financial data and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Reconciling bank statements, tracking bank deposits and payments.
  • Participating in (annual) financial audits.
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial figures.
  • Administering financial systems.

Your profile

  • A Bachelor’s degree in financial controlling or a related field.
  • Preferably a minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role or as a financial officer.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting procedures.
  • Experienced in using financial systems. (Exact Globe or Exact Online and Elvy would be an advantage.)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to fluently communicate in English and Dutch (in writing and orally).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with all stakeholders
  • Living in the Netherlands. (If you're not an EU national, you must possess a valid work permit.)

  • The salary range is between €3,600 and €4,600 gross per month, based on full-time employment.
