EHA Congratulates the 2021 Bilateral Collaborative Grant Winners
The Hague, April 25, 2022 –EHA congratulates four talented researchers in Hematology on their receipt of the inaugural EHA Bilateral Collaborative Grants 2021 after a rigorous selection process. They join a network of over 110 distinguished researchers who have received EHA Funding in the past.
The Fellowships & Grants Committee would like to thank all applicants for the high quality of all proposals submitted to this first edition.
“The EHA Bilateral Grant is an exciting initiative which will strengthen haematological research across Europe. Science at its best is a collaborative endeavour and yet the traditional model of research grant awards funds to individuals. The Bilateral Grant challenges that model and creates new opportunities for outstanding collaborative research. It also gives opportunities for younger group leaders to work with established research leaders from across Europe, extending their potential collaborative and mentor networks at a crucial stage in their careers. We have recently awarded the first round of our collaborative grants; These are proof of these opportunities, providing funding for the fundamental study of the role of inflammation in HSC and elucidation of proteogenomic biomarkers to aid clinical decision-making in high-risk ALL. We look forward to the success of these grants and to supporting further high-quality collaborative project through these awards in the future” says Professor Brian Huntly, Chair of the EHA Research Committee.

This program will enable innovative talents to engage in fruitful cooperation focusing on questions that could not be addressed by one team alone. Our intention is also to bridge the next generation of investigators with established research leaders, fostering geographic, and cultural diversity within Europe. The EHA Bilateral Collaborative Grants are intended to encourage and support collaboration between two independent research groups in basic/translational hematology research, which are located in two different European countries.
