Other new targets and combinations

Some of the presentations in the ‘best abstracts & flash talks’ sessions discussed novel targets and combination therapies.

  • Cristophe Ferrand (France) presented IL-1RAP as a promising target in the treatment of leukemia.
  • Patrick Schlegel (Germany) discussed combinatorial targeting of multiple shared antigens by adapter CAR T cells (AdCAR-Ts). This allows target cell discrimination and specific lysis based on differential expression profiles.
  • Chengcheng Fu (China) showed that tandem autologous transplantation and combined infusion of CD19 and BCMA-specific CAR T-Cells could be another choice of consolidation treatment for high risk MM patients, presenting initial safety and efficacy data from a clinical pilot study.
  • Maria Ormhøj (Denmark) gave a flash talk on CD79b-targeted CARs, which show potent pre-clinical efficacy in mantle cell lymphoma.
  • Lucia Fernández (Spain) presented a flash talk on NKG2D-CAR memory T cells as an immunotherapeutic approach against pediatric acute leukemia.
  • Juan Rodriguez-Madoz (Spain) discussed AND-gate/NOT-gate combinatorial systems to increase CAR T specificity for AML.
